White elephant lantern commissioned for the Denver Zoo’s annual lights festival

I was commissioned to build a life size elephant lantern for the Denver zoo’s holiday light show. I was commissioned by the Om Gallery in Santa Cruz and we had 3 weeks to address the artistic, engineering and logistical challenges to complete the project. The elephant had to be durable outside through a winter, but lite enough to transport half way cross the country. The elephant had to be life size, but lit from within not exposing the internal structure. It was quite the challenge. Below is a video that shows you how I made it.
