RIP Jack O’Neill, My interview with Jack in 2013. What a great guy and such a contribution to the world!

Designation of his original Surf Shop as a California Historical Point of Interest. The effort to establish this location as a California Point of Historical Interest was spearheaded by Councilmember David Terrazas with the support of City Historic Preservation staff Don Lauritson and Jen Werner. The City Economic Development Department worked with design firm Studio Holladay to develop the mural, which was printed and installed thanks to Mariah Roberts, Creedence Shaw and volunteers from the Rotary Club of Santa Cruz Sunrise. The plaque was created incollaboration with Stokes Signs. This project was made possible through the generosity of a number of supporters including Bay Federal Credit Union, Brian Foss, Brian Kilpatrick, Dan Haifley and Rebecca Haifley, David and Monica Terrazas, the Difference Consulting, the Santa Cruz Dream Inn, Mark Mesiti-Miller and Donna Murphy, O’Neill Wetsuits, Peets, Penny Ice Creamery and the Picnic Basket, Picard Construction and the Seaside Company. Special thanks to Kris Reyes, Max Schultz, Tonee Picard and the many City staff and Bay Federal volunteers who made this event happen.
